Le Chocolat: Let's celebrate à la carte with a delicious program presented by the Alliance Française de Détroit
Chocolate: the journey from beans to bar
Ever wondered, "how is chocolate made?” or “where does chocolate come from?” You’ll never believe how the chocolate we enjoy today looks like from the beginning. Cocoa beans have a complex journey from jungle trees to foil-wrapped confections. Join the Alliance Française de Détroit French Institute of Michigan for a short overview of how chocolate is made from bean to bar.
Demonstration Baking Class and Tasting - Lava Cake
You will learn how to prepare a lava cake while practicing your French in a friendly atmosphere. The workshop will begin with a demonstration and will end with the chance to sit down and enjoy this French dessert, together with Crème anglaise to complement it. You will leave with the recipes in English but also in French! Plus, we will give you some French cooking vocabulary.
You don’t need to speak French to attend this class!
Movie Night: Chocolat (in French with English subtitles)
To end this delicious program, watch the movie "Chocolat" (2000) with French actress Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp.
A woman and her daughter open a chocolate shop in a small French village that shakes up the rigid morality of the community.
